Shopper-based assortment planning

The course will cover the following topics:

  • What are we trying to achieve with assortment plans and what needs to be in place?
  • How can retailers and suppliers work together to build assortment?
  • What information and research is needed to build a shopper based assortment?
  • What are the key steps we work through to build a shopper based assortment?
  • What practical tools can be used in the process?

Objectives

By the end of the course the participant will be able to describe the inputs, outputs and process used to build an assortment plan for a category that balances the needs of retailers, suppliers and most importantly shoppers.

Target audience

The course is targeted at individuals within manufacturers and retailers who are responsible for the practical translation of category strategy into category assortment plans.

Pre-requisites

Participants need to understand the basic principles of Category Management and have a working understanding of the different types of market, consumer and shopper data available to manufacturers and retailers.
